I have finally done it. I have signed up for my first Skillshare class. I stumbled upon this website while browsing design blogs and was immediately intrigued. The website offers classes that teach specific skills with learn-at-your-own-pace video lessons taught by designers around the world. If you’d like to learn more, watch their Manifesto Video. I will be taking the “Digitizing Hand Lettering: From Sketch to Vector.” I can’t wait.
A little something for YOU:
Use this link and we both get $10 off a class at Skillshare.
Also, I’ve got some good stuff over at my personal blog.
Do it wrong.
Do it wrong again.
But then fix it.
Because you won’t make that mistake again. You’ll learn. And you’ll get better.
This is the real world. This is called experience. Absorb every moment. And move on. In fact, don’t stop making mistakes, messing up, or moving on. Ever.
Hello friends! I have exciting news! My business card design has been put into a “Treasury” via Etsy’s curators. It sits in the “Textured Treasury.” I think it’s pretty fun that Etsy handpicks certain items and collects them into similar groups. I’m hoping it will get my name out there a little bit.
So far, my experience with opening a store on Etsy has been super interesting and far from what I had expected. I have received a lot of custom orders – people requesting changes or updates or personalization to designs I already have out there. I expected to just see a couple of purchases and downloads once in a while but I have actually communicated with quite a few different people, all with different ideas in mind. Etsy is a great way for any freelancer to get their name out there and although there is a lot of competition to the custom designs game, I have still received quite a few purchases and custom orders.
“The world is but a canvas to our imagination.” – Henry David Thoreau
There’s a world outside your cubicle, your apartment, your day-to-day life. Did you know? I challenge you to do ONE thing everyday that’s thrilling and new, even if it’s a simple walk in a park you’ve never visited before. Collect these experiences and cherish the small moments in life. The world is but a canvas to your imagination – are you painting?
“Art is anything you can get away with.” – Andy Warhol
I love the boldness and confidence in this statement. I DARE you to be as confident in your art as Warhol was with his.
Don’t forget about the FREEBIE I have a couple posts back.
And I would LOVE some feedback on this post.
